Malachi and his Windy Creek mare

My nephew Malachi recently had his senior pictures taken, his quarter horse mare was a part of the action. "Roanie" is out of our Shaq and Royal and is already 5 years old ( I think anyway). The two of them made an awesome sight in our Iowa sunset. Here are just a few of the pictures snapped that day by my sister and myself. If you look in my 2008 post you will see "Roan Bar Beauty" a.k.a. Roanie as a weanling, also in that year you will see a young Malachi with "Watch Fancy Cane."

Canes filly from this year, Watch Kay Cee Cane is now at home with her sister Watch Dixie Rose in South Dakota! Smokey's little stud colt is now sold too so we are "sold out" of our weanlings! Thanks to everyone who purchased one of our babies, keep us in mind for next years babies!

I don't have a new picture to add but wanted to share the name of Drifter and Shaq's 2012 red roan filly. We got her registration papers back from the AQHA and her registered name is Watch Dixie Rose! Got the idea from a Trent Willmon song since this little filly has everything that you could want the name seemed a good fit! My brother and his family purchased her and are really impressed with how she is coming along.

What a switch our babies have gone through this summer! Both Smokey's and Canes babies have roaned(not sure if that is even a word, hope you know what I mean) out and the rest are looking  as great as ever. So far Syd's and Royal's are spoken for.  They are  all looking great, acting great, and are just a great bunch of babies all around. Now if we could just get some rain...

Here is just a closer look at out babies here. They all have pretty heads and unique markings on their faces. Royal's little stud colt looks a little tough but it is his dark hair on his head coming in like Syd's baby. He is going to be a dark red roan by the looks of the dark hair that is showing up now. They  are all constantlly changing so the next time I get pictures on here they are going to be way different again.

Here are some pictures taken over the last couple of days. In just the short time from the last pictures on here were taken, so many of them have totally roanned out. Smokey and Canes both have white hairs mixed in so I am thinking in a month or less they are really going to be showing the roan look too. I can not even start to figure out what color Syd's baby is, we have never had that color til now. Syd's  baby is the only one spoken for, the rest are available for $4oo each, your choice. It is another great mix of color this year, so many shades of roan(if that makes sense)! but everyone of them is built like a rock.

These pictures were taken the other day when I was out in the pasture taking some of Canes baby. Hope you enjoy, I sure loved taking them; the sky was beautiful and the subjects were awesome, I don't think it gets a whole lot better than that!

Cane has memorial day baby!

Memorial day morning, May 28th, brought a new and final addition for this year to our herd. Our stallion Watch Joe Shaq and our mare SRB Can Cane(Sneaky Red Baron (Mr Baron Red X Sneaky Feast) X Canspicuous Lover (Can Spicuous X Love My Heiress)) had a gorgeous red dun/red roan  (once again, not quite sure yet:)). These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago.

Smokey has red roan!



This past Monday, May 14th our mare SRB Go Smokey Roann had a red roan. "Smokey" is a 2002 sorrel mare out of Sneaky Red Baron (Mr Baron Red X Sneaky Feast) and Go Smokey Lady (Smokey Shortcake X Go Elsie Go). I haven't got many pictures yet but I just wanted to get caught up on what has been going on here at Windy Creek.

I was out in the pasture the other day when I took a couple pictures of our mares while they were in our creek enjoying the great May morning. There aren't many pictures but the mares and shaq were just looking so nice I had to share them!

This is a month late but our mare SRB Royal Drifter had a great little red roan, (or maybe sorrel there are some white hairs here and there, we will know for sure in a month or two) on April 4. "Royal" is a 2002 sorrel mare out of Sneaky Red Baron ( Mr Baron Red X Sneaky Feast) and Driftwood Salina (Driftwood Hank X Royal Gypsy Pine).

Watch Joe Shaq (WOW)

Here are just a couple pictures of our stallion Watch Joe Shaq, he is a 2002 red dun that carries and expresses roan gene. He just keeps getting better with age! I had no idea that the ugly yearling dad brought home was going to turn into this! Any way, he is out of Watch Joe Jack Bars (Watch Joe Jack X Elano) and Sue Fancy (Fancy Red Bar Boy X Toms Sue Bark). He has been a great stud for us, not big on outside mares but has helped to produce some knock out colts with good dispositions and awesome color!

Another beautiful baby comes!

Last friday, March 30, our mare SRB Country Drifter (Drifter) had a beautiful dark red roan with tons of white on face and legs. I was noticing when putting pictures on here I don't really have one of her great blaze but I guarantee you will seeing plenty of pictures of her in the months to come!

Syd gives us 1st 2012 colt!

Monday March 26th our mare SRB Jazzy Lady (Syd) had a gorgeous little (ok not so little)dun filly. They are both doing great! Here are just a few pictures I took yesterday. Royal and Drifter (two more or our mares) should be having their babies literally any day now so be sure to check back:)
